NUTRITION SUPERVISOR

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a proud member of the Medisys Health Network, is a 424-bed, fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center. Since 1980, we have served as a WIC provider, growing from an initial caseload of 50 participants to over 10,000 annually. As a top-tier WIC program provider, our four program sites offer nutritional education, supplemental food benefits, breastfeeding support, and community referrals, empowering participants to sustain healthy lifestyles.

We are seeking a highly experienced Nutrition Supervisor to support the Program Director in implementing the Special Supplemental Food and Nutrition Education Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee staff competency, professional development, and supervision of the Dietetic Intern Program.
  • Assist the Program Director during USDA, New York State Department of Health, and internal audits.
  • Train and supervise Qualified Nutritionists and support staff.
  • Ensure efficient daily operations, including patient flow, staff workflow, and timely task completion.
  • Evaluate charts for accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures from the Local Agency and NYSDOH-WIC guidelines.
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate participant-centered nutrition education services.
  • Develop, implement, and assess staff training programs related to nutrition and health assessments.
  • Act as a nutrition and health resource for staff.
  • Assist in performance improvement and quality assurance processes to resolve operational issues.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with RD (Registered Dietitian)/CDN (Certified Dietitian Nutritionist) credentials, or
  • Master’s degree in nutrition/public health from a regionally accredited or NY State-registered institution.
  • Coursework must include basic/general nutrition, life cycle/human nutrition, community nutrition, maternal and pediatric nutrition, and nutrition assessment.
    Experience:
  • Three or more years of WIC experience (preferably supervisory) at a Local Agency.
  • At least two years of experience in a federally funded or community nutrition food program, with one year of supervisory experience.
  • Skills:
  • Strong multitasking and independent working abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications.
    Flexibility: Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
    Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish or Bengali.
