Nurse Practitioner -Surgery Department- Ambulatory Care Clinic

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center has a full-time opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner for our Surgery Department outpatient Ambulatory Care Clinic.

As a member of our team, you will serve as a principal healthcare provider working with adolescent and adult populations. The NP will perform a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary in an outpatient setting.

Typical duties will include:

• Taking initial patient histories and performing physical examinations.
• Evaluating, diagnosing, developing, and managing treatment plans
• Ordering and interpreting lab tests, x-rays, MRI’s, and CT’s
• Counseling patients
• Performing various medical procedures and assisting in surgical operations
• Document office encounter notes
• Prescribe medications appropriately and manage prescription refill requests.
• Conferring with attending physicians, residents, and other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
