MAINTENANCE WORKER – PLANT OPERATIONS

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 408 bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center. We provide general medical, pediatric, and psychiatric emergency services, ambulatory care on and off-campus, ambulatory surgery and a broad spectrum of diagnostic and treatment services We are currently seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians for immediate full time, day shift positions in our Plant Operations Department.

Under the Lead General Mechanic or assigned Shop Lead, the selected candidates will be responsible for:

DUTIES

• Assisting and or performing general maintenance tasks related to other departmental shops or tasks necessary to maintaining normal, consistent operation of  facility equipment and spaces
• Inspecting existing systems to actively troubleshoot and identify problems.
• Performing routine maintenance jobs, such as minor welding, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, and minor carpentry repairs to walls, roofs, windows, or ceilings
• Cleaning all engineering areas or parts thereof.
• Performing grounds maintenance – snow removal and salt application on walkways
• Using basic hand and power tools
• Operating equipment such as snow blowers, brushes, salt spreaders, tractors, bobcats, etc.
• Participating in group/ team cleanups of hospital properties.
