We are currently seeking experienced Patient Care Assistants (PCA) for immediate Full-Time opportunities across our Medical/Surgical Unit . This is a great opportunity for compassionate individuals eager to make a difference in patient care.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Jamaica Hospital, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with daily living activities, under the supervision of registered nurses. Your key responsibilities will include assisting patients with personal care, mobility, and other basic needs, ensuring their comfort and well-being during their hospital stay.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, oral hygiene, and changing clothes.
  • Assist patients with walking, transferring to wheelchairs, and repositioning in bed.
  • Serve meals, assist with feeding, and monitor food intake for patients who require assistance.
  • Take and record vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate.
  • Change bed linens, assist with toileting, and help collect specimens.
  • Report changes in patient condition or behavior to nursing staff.
  • Escort patients to other departments for tests or procedures.
  • Ensure patient rooms are clean, organized, and well-maintained.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current or recent experience performing Phlebotomy and 12-Lead EKG testing
  • Must have Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Patient Care Assistant certification.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Basic computer skill

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or caregiving role.
  • Experience working as a Patient Care Associate or Patient Care Assistant.
  • Ability to work under the direct supervision of licensed nurses.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain a clean, safe environment for patients
