Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a Queens-based 404-bed hospital and  Level I Trauma Center.  Healthgrades  2020  America’s Best Hospital report, has ranked us in the top 5% in the Nation for Clinical Excellence.    We are proud of our uncompromising commitment and unparalleled approach in providing the highest quality and most cost-effective service to the many culturally diverse, residents in Queens.  We are currently seeking an experienced Pharmacist for immediate F/T and temporary Day shift position.

DUTIES

As an inpatient Staff Pharmacist you will responsible for a challenging and wide range duties including:

  • Interpreting and evaluating physician orders to prepare, calculate, and dispense medication dosage forms.
  • Regularly communicating with multiple prescribers and nursing personnel to clarify and modify orders.
  • Documenting intervention activities.
  • Preparing, labeling, and dispensing medication for all hospital areas.
  • Entering and processing medication orders in computerized system to ensure appropriate drug distribution.
  • Reviewing, maintaining, and screening medication profiles for allergies, interactions, and therapeutic duplication.
  • Advising prescribers, nurses, and patients regarding medication contents, therapeutic actions, utilization and possible adverse reactions and interactions of drugs.
  • Compounding and dispensing Parenteral Admixtures.
  • Directly supervising and overseeing pharmacy technicians and interns.

Requirements

Bachelors of Science Degree from an accredited college PharmD preferred

Currently licensed and registered as a Pharmacist in the State of New York.

Previous hospital experience preferred
