The Advanced Center for Psychotherapy affiliated with Jamaica Hospital Medical Center offers a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services for those with mental health needs in a very calm, quiet and desirable, tree lined Jamaica Estates neighborhood. The therapist will take part in substance abuse trainings, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic psychotherapies. The Psychotherapist will provide group therapy, crisis intervention and client advocacy. Monitor, evaluate and record client progress with respect to treatment goals and counsel clients to assist them in dealing with mental illness. This is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to gain experience in an outpatient setting.

We currently have (Hybrid work schedule) full-time, part-tiem and Fee-For-Service opportunities for experienced Psychotherapists that hold an LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or PHD (licensed psychologist) LCSW preferred.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis intervention, counseling and support to family and patients.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and/or families with the interdisciplinary hospital staff.
  • Aids the patient and family to identify social, emotional, environmental problems that may impede adjustment to illness, hospitalization, and projected post discharge needs, including LEP needs.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or PHD (licensed psychologist) LCSW preferred
  • Strong crisis intervention and short-term counseling skills
  • Deep understanding of the psychosocial aspects of illness and health
  • Knowledge of community-based organizations and resources for discharge planning
  • Superb written and oral communication skills
