DESKTOP SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a renowned Queens-based community hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center.  We are currently seeking an experienced Desktop Support Technician for an immediate onsite career opportunity.  

Position Overview:

As Desktop Support Technician, you will work closely and directly with the IT Director to implement and maintain software, hardware, and network connectivity. Supporting all organization-supported software applications and hardware.  Generating system reports, troubleshooting computer problems, determining the source, and advising  on appropriate actions.

Essential Functions:

  • Implementation of software and productivity tools, setup, diagnostics, repair, and overall usability of the customer computer system.
  • Provide technical service and support to offsite locations
  • Manage offsite installation, repair, maintenance
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
  • Respond to staff questions in person, phone, email on all organization-supported technology systems.
  • Document resolutions and configurations for future reference.
  • Attend all meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Immediately report any problems or unusual occurrences to the supervisor.
Requirements

Minimum Experience and Skills Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supporting and configuring Windows-based hardware, printers, tablets, scanners, and cell phones
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supporting and configuring Windows desktop operating systems, office productivity applications, and other software platforms.
  • Solid understanding of computer networking, associated hardware, and software
  • Must be able to work in a team-focused environment to accomplish goals and tasks.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required:

  • Certifications in Microsoft systems or other software platforms (Nice to Have)
  • B.A. or B.S., preferably in Information Technology, Engineering, or Health Care.
