CAPTAIN

Flushing Hospital Medical Center has an opportunity within the Security Department to hire a Security Captain, a key leadership security position.  The person selected for this role must be a dedicated, experienced leader wanting “take ownership” of all command operations and bring extensive management and leadership skills to thrive as an “agent of change”, while working closely with the Security Director. The following are a partial list of job responsibilities:

• Directly responsible to manage, plan, organize, schedule, and coordinate all operations activities within the command which operates 24 hours per day,7 days per week.

• Directly responsible to schedule all personnel efficiently. Scheduling is set 2 weeks in advance.

• Monitor supervisors to ensure all work assignments, and personnel posting are adequately covered.

• Continuously identify areas for improvement

• Work closely with all departments within the hospital to ensure security needs are met.

• Train and Mentor staff.

• Ensures all staff are well versed in department procedures

• Ensure all security staff is appropriately dressed.

• Make decisions to ensure the security and safety of all Patients, Staff, and Visitors.

• Ensure an initial investigation is undertaken

• Build mutually beneficial relationships across all departments

• Discipline when necessary
