Jamaica Anesthesia Associates is seeking a board certified Anesthesiologist for the director of Performance Improvement.

The Performance Improvement (PI) Director in the Department of Anesthesiology is responsible for overseeing the Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) for the Department and insuring compliance with verifying and regulatory agencies. Works with Anesthesia Leadership to trend quality measures and develop performance improvement, implement, and monitor initiatives for the Department.
The PI Director works with physicians, staff, and other departments to address anesthesia quality of care. In addition, He/She works with Leadership to ensure compliance with verifying and regulatory agencies.
The PI Director is designated an EPIC “Super User” for the Department and acts as the Departmental Liaison to the Hospital EPIC/Informatics Teams. He/she prepares PI/QA reports and maintains PI/QA documentation for the Department.

Required Skills and/or Experience A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Anesthesiologist in a hospital setting is required. Core Responsibilities Works to ensure compliance with verifying and regulatory agencies as it pertains to PIPS/QA in the Department of Anesthesiology. Collaborates with other departments to identify, evaluate and problem solve variations in care and works with them to develop action plans to correct, as necessary. Uses data to identify potential areas for performance improvement and potential clinical research for the Department. Collaborates with Anesthesia Leadership to ensure trending of quality measures occurs and that documentation of same is maintained in the department. This includes Anesthesia Specialties. Maintains and updates trending spreadsheets for the department of Anesthesia, including Anesthesia subspecialties for both Jamaica and FHMC Ensures that all Anesthesia PI issues are addressed and “looped closed” in a timely manner As necessary, works with HIM and EPIC as it pertains to ensure maintenance of departmental PI/QA reports for PIPS Acts as a liaison to hospital IT dept. to ensure accurate data collection Collaborates and work with EPIC Team to build templates to insure anesthesia documentation captures data necessary for PI tracking and research data collection Attends and participates in Performance Improvement Council and other Departmental Meetings as assigned by Anesthesia Leadership. Attends weekly Anesthesia Department meeting identifies trends and areas for performance improvement at this meeting. Summarizes cases presented at meetings and reviews with the Chair or his designee Contributes to staff education to insure competency and compliance with PI initiatives Utilizes EPIC system in accordance with job duties and role assignment It’s an exciting time to come on board at Jamaica Hospital.
