Assistant Head Nurse – Psychiatric Emergency (CPEP) Night Shift

Location: Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Queens, NY
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Pay: $53.18/h.r + Differentials

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a member of the Medisys Health Network, is a fully accredited teaching hospital and Level I Trauma & Stroke Center. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Head Nurse to join our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP).

CPEP provides emergency evaluation, intervention, and treatment for individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. Services include:

• Psychiatric Emergency Room: Immediate care for individuals in urgent need of mental health services
• Extended Observation Beds: Up to 72 hours of assessment and stabilization
• Mobile Crisis Outreach: Community-based home visits for ongoing evaluation and support
• Crisis Beds: Temporary housing for patients with housing instability

Role Responsibilities:

• Support the Nurse Manager in operational and administrative functions within the CPEP unit
• Supervise, mentor, and train nursing staff and auxiliary personnel
• Coordinate shift assignments and unit workflow
• Provide hands-on leadership and technical support for nursing staff
• Assist in preparing incident, accident, and investigatory reports
• Ensure quality, safe, and compassionate care for patients in crisis
