The Department of Vascular Surgery at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center provides innovative and comprehensive care to treat patients with a wide range and complex conditions.  The technologist position performs all diagnostic noninvasive laboratory tests including color doppler ultrasound evaluation of the carotid, upper/lower venous and arterial doppler, arterial graft and hemodialysis duplex evaluation. Must have knowledge of performing pulse volume recording, segmental pressures and doppler waveform.

We are currently seeking F/T Sonography Technician with prior Vascular experience to join our team.  Our ideal candidates will be flexible, willing, and able to work a combination of days and weekends. 

REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Performs vascular sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  •  Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school OR six months to one year experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

REQUIRED SKILLS AND /OR EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Medical experience required.
  • Familiar with community resources and hospital processes, structure, and functions.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) within 12 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • OB HAZARDS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
