DATA CENTER SUPERVISOR

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center currently seeks an experienced Data Center Supervisor to coordinate with I.T. department leads, data center operators, vendors, and consultants. Our ideal candidate will be a strong leader of projects, internal resources, and external vendors and service providers. Within this essential vital role, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas in the Jamaica Hospital data center, such as device management, power, environmental monitoring, and networking infrastructure.
  • Providing scheduling, direction, and development to 24×7 on-site data center operator staff.  
  • Implementing and improving existing SOPs, service and delivery support, tools to HIPAA/PHI compliant hospital standards for our data center.
  • Detecting server hardware faults and network issues and providing resolution and escalation to appropriate principal technical department heads.
  • Delivering substantive daily reports of maintenance/escalation activities and system diagnostics/performance.
  • Working collaboratively with other department lead technicians and managers to support client servers, including logging into client consoles, rebooting, racking, and stacking equipment, i.e., acting as remote hands and decommissioning and disposal of legacy hardware (in keeping with standard hospital I.T. security policies and procedures).  
  • Monitoring and updating tickets internally (with users) and externally (with vendors), logging all interaction with hospital end-users with our internally developed Help Desk ticket module. 
  • Assisting during off-hours to cover internal hospital user technical support line.  
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring Fire Safety protocols and regular check-ups, cooling, and humidity to maintain an optimal environment for servers and network equipment.
  • Monitoring and maintaining FTP accounts (internal/vendor and Department of Health-related)
  • Working with I.T. teams to identify issues and timely resolution to the issue with infrastructure teams.
  •  Working on incident management, change forms, and production support, working with peer Infrastructure and other I.T. Department Managers to provide input and escalate concerns.

 

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on technical experience building/supporting data centers, ideally with 2+ years in a Team Lead capacity.
  • Familiarity with Windows-based batch scripting. Extensive experience leading operators, including hospital device troubleshooting and deployment and project planning in an environment with aggressive delivery goals.
  • Expertise with vendor management, negotiation, and oversight of vendor resources. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergencies.
  • Expertise in various data center hardware, cabling, environmental, and power standards.
  • Must have a solid understanding of network and computing, hardware, and software technology. Experience with monitoring systems: we use Clover-Leaf for monitoring, Auto FTP, and Core FTP for secure HIPAA compliant data delivery and receipt.
