Work Schedule: On Call

The Flushing Hospital Medical Center's  MediSys Health Network provides emergency ambulance services in the New York City 911 system and operates one of the largest hospital-based ambulance services within the five boroughs of New York City.  We are proud of our uncompromising commitment and unparalleled approach in providing the highest quality and most cost effective service to the many culturally diverse, residents in Queens.  We are presently conducting a search to identify and recruit full time  On Call Call Center Associates to work in our 24 hour Call Center. 

DESCRIPTION:

As a  Call Center Associate you will be responsible for the daily Operations of the Transportation Coordination Center. Specific duties will include:

Creating  Daily work schedules for drivers.  Monitoring  drivers  and making  schedule  adjustments as needed.  Coordinating  communications during disasters and implementing and  following hospital disaster policies and procedures.  Receiving emergent and non-emergent requests for patient movement from Jamaica Hospital Medical Center sites.  Receiving routine and urgent requests for departments serviced by Motor Transportation.  Coordinating radio, cellular, paging and communications between  drivers and different departments . Coordinating transportation needs of staff using outside vendors.  Maintaining  daily logs and registers.  Maintaining and updating  computer records.  Inputting  call data into computer.   Forwarding and disseminating s paperwork/logs .  Review, collating  and forwarding  ambulance call reports in a timely manner.  Operating and  driving company vehicles whenever necessary.

 

Requirements
  • MUST HAVE current NY State Emergency Medical Technician Certification or higher.
  • New York State Driver’s License.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Previous on –the-job computer/database experience required.
  • Experience working in a health care environment an asset.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Good organizational and time management skills required.
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with hospital standards required.
  • Ability to work to work well under pressure required.
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations required.
  • Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and standards required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required
