Flushing Hospital Medical Center, Queens NY in collaboration with the SAMHSA Grant Project has a full time position for a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate. The purpose of the project is to permanently develop the Flushing Mental Health Clinic into a Certified Community Behavioral Healthy Clinic (CCBHC) by integrating expanded services into the current Flushing Hospital Mental Health Clinic. The integrated behavioral and psychological objectives of the project include successful aging by promoting mental health and physical health wellness, promoting individual and family functioning in the community, reducing avoidable emergency room visits and inpatient admissions, and reducing the costs of care.

This is a full time position for an OASAS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate to work with those patients who are either substance users or at risk of becoming one. The Peer will work closely with the clinicians to motivate recipients with substance use issues to seek and remain in treatment and to remain abstinent.

Requirements

HS Diploma/Equivalency required

Interpersonal skills and Certified Recovery Peer Advocate credential are required.
