The Neurosurgery Department at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in New York City is seeking a BC/BE, fellowship trained neurointensivist to join our team.. This position will be on our main campus which is a comprehensive stroke center and level 1 trauma center.
Currently, we have Medical and Surgical ICUs in our hospital, and as part of a plan to create and develop department of Neuroscience, we intend to provide Neuro-ICU service dedicated to neurosurgery and neurology patients.
The new appointment would be considered the future director of the neuro-ICU.
We welcome inquiries from critical care specialists who are pursuing certification in neurocritical or a neurocritical care trained intensivist who has experience in managing a diverse population including medical, surgical and cardiac critical care patients
The neuroscience service have recently expanded by hiring full-time cerebrovascular, endovascular, neuro-oncology, and spine surgeons with the perspective of providing the most comprehensive neurosurgery service in the borough of Queens in New York City in the near future.
The service would be assisted by experienced and trained PAs, NPs, and residents (medicine and surgery). Considering the high volume of trauma and stroke patients, there would be splendid opportunity for research and practice. Responsibilities include the development and expansion of a Neurocritical Care, providing clinical services, supervision and training of nurse practitioners and physician assistants, and call.
JHMC is located in an important geopolitical location in New York City close to the JFK airport, being designated as a level I trauma center and a thrombectomy capable stroke center treating hundreds of stroke patients annually. The anticipated primary site of clinical practice will be at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with 408 licensed inpatient beds, outpatient services, but would also be expected to give remote coverage to the other site in our health network, Flushing hospital with 293 beds.
