Jamaica Hospital has a career opportunity for an Ophthalmology Technician. The Ophthalmology Technician will collect medical history of the patient as well as eye measurements. Tests patient’s eye pressure, pupil reactions, scope of vision, color vision and muscle movement. The Opthamology Technician will assist the physician during diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, including instrumentation, sterile preparations and documentation. Assist the physician with patient education pertaining to the treatment prescribed.They will also be responsible for maintaining exam rooms and ophthalmologic equipment.

Requirements
Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certificate required. Knowledge of laboratory instruments and complex machinery is a plus. Experience in using ophthalmic instruments such as phoropters, tonometers, sonographers and ultrasounds required. Knowledge of ophthalmic pharmacology and corrective lenses is required.
