Ophthalmic Technician 

Immediate Hire – Full-Time

Position: Ophthalmic Technician

Location: Jamaica Hospital, Queens, NY
Salary: $27.00 – $29.00 per hour (DOE)

The TJH Division of Ophthalmology at Jamaica Hospital is a well-established private group practice offering a comprehensive range of medical, diagnostic, and surgical ophthalmic services. Our Board-Certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologists and skilled clinical teams are committed to delivering exceptional eye care using the latest diagnostic technology and advanced surgical techniques.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include:

  • Advanced diagnostic imaging and laser technologies
  • Fully equipped Operating Rooms for cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, oculoplastics, and pediatric ophthalmology

We are currently seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician for an immediate, full-time career opportunity in a fast-paced, high-quality clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interview patients and accurately document ocular and medical histories
  • Perform routine and specialized ophthalmic testing, including:
    – Intraocular pressure measurements
    – Visual fields, PAM and BAT testing
    – A-Scan ultrasonography
    – Fundus photography
  • Perform OCTs, Visual Field testing, IOL Master, and Pentacam imaging
  • Obtain and document visual acuity testing
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic tests and procedures
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, including:
    – Instrumentation
    – Sterile preparation
    – Clinical documentation
  • Administer topical medications and diagnostic agents as directed
  • Educate patients on prescribed treatments and procedures

  • Minimum 1–2 years of current or recent Ophthalmic Technician experience (required)
  • Strong knowledge of ophthalmic testing and instrumentation
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume clinical setting
