Assistant Head Nurse – Rehabilitation Unit

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Head Nurse to join our Rehabilitation Unit in a full-time role. This position offers an exciting opportunity to support nursing leadership, oversee daily operations, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assign tasks to nursing staff, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and performance feedback to support professional development.
  • Monitor patient progress and collaborate with healthcare teams to review and adjust treatment plans.
  • Ensure effective implementation of rehabilitation therapies and interventions.
  • Address patient concerns and facilitate appropriate care modifications.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, therapists, physicians, and leadership.
  • Uphold nursing and rehabilitation quality standards, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage staffing adjustments, oversee shift operations, and address emergent situations as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Participate in staff training and education initiatives to enhance clinical skills.

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program (MSN preferred).
  • Active New York State RN license required.
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in rehabilitation or a related field.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of rehabilitation nursing principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment.
