Jamaica Hospital Medical Center located in Queens, NY has a Full -time opportunity for Ultrasound Techs with RDMS Certification and 2-5 years experience in a hospital setting.

Full-time, Perdiem

Shift: Tuesday-Saturday 11:30a-8p

Job Description:

Prepares and examines all patients, verifying their identity for ultrasound examinations in accordance with established departmental procedures and techniques
Operates ultrasound equipment to perform exams under general or direct physician supervision as defined by the procedure, adjusting scanning technique to optimize image quality
Communicates with the patient to explain the exam/procedure and instructions
Analyzes sonographic findings and provides an oral summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist
Perform exam measurements and calculations according to ACR protocols and guidelines
Notifies appropriate health care provider when immediate medical attention is needed
Ensures adequate supplies are available for use and reports any malfunction of equipment to the department supervisor
Assists in the orientation and mentor of new Ultrasound personnel.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited Ultrasound/Sonography technical training program. Successful completion of one specialty examination within 75 days from date of hire. Successful completion of an accredited ultrasound / sonography technical training program (as determined by MSHS) within 4 months of accepting this offer. Successful completion of the MSHS hiring process. Commencing work within 14 days of graduation. Successful completion of ARDMS Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) examination prior to your date of hire. *Proficiency in performing breast ultrasound preferred Jamaica Hospital, a 402 bed fully accredited community teaching hospital with a Level I trauma center and a large network of community based ambulatory care and one the largest voluntary hospital ambulance fleet serving the City 911 system. This hospital provides general medical, pediatric, and psychiatric emergency services, ambulatory care on and off campus, ambulatory surgery and a board spectrum of diagnostic and treatment services.
