Jamaica Hospital Medical Center located in Queens, New York seeks  Admitting Representatives for immediate full-time opportunity in our Admitting Department. The Admitting Department is a fast-paced environment. Admitting is a very essential part of our organization by providing constant and accurate patient flow ensuring patient safety as well as providing the best customer service to our patients and their families.

Our medical center’s Admitting Representatives provide professional, courteous, time-efficient, patient-centered and accurate administrative support required to facilitate patient care. Additional responsibilities in this role are as follows:

  • Responsible for hospital bed management, which involves constant monitoring ofhospital admissions, discharges and patient movement within the hospital so that accurate information is gathered to identify bed availability.
  • Registering patients accurately and promptly according to triage level; reviews, obtains and records all pertinent patient demographics and financial information.
  • Inputting patient information into computer system and verify necessary referrals and insurance eligibility
  • Handles transfers and expirations of patients according to the Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Capture data required for processing of Birth Certificates, Paternity Forms, Spontaneous Termination of Pregnancy Forms and Death Certificates.

Requirements
  • High school diploma, college degree preferred
  • 1-2 years experience in a medical environment, patient registration, and insurance verification
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records, EPIC preferred
  • Highly skilled computer proficiency required, i.e. word processing, and data entry.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • MUST BE AVAILABE TO TRAIN ON ALL SHIFTS.
